SFGate.com, the online home of the San Francisco Chronicle, wanted to extend its coverage and aggregate related content from around the Web. More importantly, it wanted to be the go-to destination for news and information.

Start to finish, widget deployment for the Silicon Valley Update took a few weeks with little editorial or IT time. Since its launch, SFGate has seen an increase in page views to the section and increase in inbound SEO traffic.

SFGate was looking to boost article page SEO and avoid the “one and done” of search traffic, retaining new users on its site. In late 2009, SFGate added NextClick article page solution and Topic Pages to its site to provide a richer reading experience for users and surface evergreen content.
