How does it work?

Define your Topic

The process is simple. You tell OneSpot a few sites you know your audience likes and trusts and based on those, OneSpot finds thousands of related sources for more, similar content. Then you choose what you want from the content. OneSpot discovers and decide how often you want to update your sites, newsletters and blogs.

Content

OneSpot selects the best articles, stories, and posts from the sources in your Topics to use for the content it delivers. The content presented to your audience includes the article’s headline, a short excerpt of the original article, and a link to the original story or site, giving full credit to the original author and source.

Publications

A Publication is how you deliver fresh and focused content to your sites, newsletters and blogs.
For example, you can:

  • Send your customers a newsletter every week with that weeks top 5 stories, articles and posts from your topic, using your site’s look and feel and integrating with your email marketing system
  • Supplement your site’s existing content with the top 10 stories for the day from around the web, tightly focused on your customers’ interests
  • Provide an RSS feed of your topics’ breaking news

OneSpot’s fast, easy and flexible system automates the process of selecting which articles to use and how and when they are delivered. You have complete control over how often they appear, the quantity of articles and the appearance of the final result, including matching your site’s look and feel precisely.

You get custom, branded pages:

  • Dense with key words and phrases from that particular story or issue
  • With permanent URL’s optimized for search engine results and using current tag standards
  • Every Publication has summary pages and an RSS feed.

Every published story or article has a detail page with commentary from around the Web:

  • Drive traffic and search engine results
  • Strengthen customer relationships and loyalty because readers can participate with discussion and voting.

More in depth

A Topic is made up of the list of sites you pick when setting up plus the ones OneSpot discovers based on those. Each Topic can have one or more Publications.

Creating a Topic

  1. You tell us a few sites you know your audience likes and trusts.
  2. OneSpot’s patent-pending ranking system discovers thousands of highly regarded and popular sources based on your list
  3. The system identifies the best articles, stories and posts from your Topic—your Content
  4. (Optional) OneSpot also presents you with the opportunity to adjust the list, increasing or decreasing the prominence of individual sources or even eliminating them.

Creating and Using Publications

  1. First, you select the timeframe for your Publication and how many articles you wish to include.
  2. You decide whether you want to publish on a schedule or on an "as needed" basis. Scheduling allows very fine control over when publication occurs. Which days of the week and at what times and once every (you pick the frequency). So if you want to send the top 5 articles this hour every hour between 9 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday, you can!
  3. You decide on the template your publication uses. You can have as many different templates as you need and the template gives you total control over the look and feel of your Publication so you can match the appearance and navigation of your main site.
  4. Each Publication has a home page and an RSS feed
  5. Each published story has a discussion page
