Online Publisher: The Wall Street Journal
The Wall Street Journal uses OneSpot to deliver the best content from the Web for its Law, Technology, Health, Politics, Personal Finance and Business sections.
WSJ Online started working with OneSpot’s tools in the Law Section and the Law Blog. The Law editors wanted to supplement their current articles and stories with more great content from around the Web, without exhausting their staff.
OneSpot has helped make the WSJ Law Section and Law Blog a rich news source while providing valuable time savings for their editors. OneSpot’s aggregation helps WSJ become the legal information destination, while still allowing editors to have control over quality content in no more than 5 minutes a day.
“OneSpot provides WSJ.com with a stream of highly relevant content from the Web, and gives us the ability to exercise editorial control over content selection. This is helping us fulfill our mission of becoming a one-stop source of news and information for our readers.”
—Alan Murray, Executive Editor, WSJ Online
Email Marketing: Smith & Associates
Smith & Associates is the leading independent distributor of electronic components to the world’s electronics manufacturers. Smith wanted to increase brand equity by delivering compelling content to users via their website and newsletters. Previous newsletters were stopped after the marketing staff struggled to produce enough compelling content to create an interesting publication.
OneSpot helps power the MarketWatch section and the bimonthly e-newsletter. Smith can now work within their marketing team’s means and still provide their own voice with a supplemental article based on the dynamic MarketWatch stories. It only took Smith two weeks to publish their first newsletter with OneSpot.
From the first newsletter, results show:
- 26% of e-newsletter recipients open it.
- 5% of recipients click through to read at least one of the articles.
- Almost no recipients unsubscribe (0.02%).
“OneSpot gave us exactly what we wanted: an easy way to stay in touch with customers. OneSpot helps us find 95% of the content for our newsletter, and the quality keeps our unsubscribe rate at 0.02%.”
—Mark Bollinger, VP of Marketing, Smith & Associates
Online Publisher: SF Gate
SFGate.com, the online home of the San Francisco Chronicle, wanted to extend its technology coverage and aggregate related content from around the Web. More importantly, it wanted to be the go-to destination for news and information on Silicon Valley. Other solutions, such as RSS feed technology or basic news aggregation services, did not allow for the same aggregation, filtration and prioritization of content as OneSpot allows.
Start to finish, widget deployment for the Silicon Valley Update took a few weeks with little editorial or IT time. Since its launch, SFGate has seen an increase in page views to the section and in increase in inbound SEO traffic. In addition, the Silicon Valley Update widget can be grabbed and placed on a site or blog, increasing traffic to SFGate.
“OneSpot has given us an increase in content without sacrificing control at the source and story level. With smart filtering, content is tailored for our readers’ preferences without strain on our staff.”
—Annika Toernqvist, Senior Business Producer, SFGate.com
